Born in Peru, raised in Portland, Oregon, USA. I picked up my first camera in high school. The first things I photographed were the world around me, like the buses lined up in formation, patiently waiting for students to pile in. Then came portraits of friends, cats, family members. I spent hours in the darkroom during lunch and after school, playing with light, experimenting with different ways to develop and print. Here I took my time. I slowed down the light. This gave the images depth. I was mesmerized watching the image appear in the developing solution.

Although the process of revealing a picture has changed, from chemical to digital, I am still mesmerized watching the final image appear. The evolution. The feeling. The final edit. It often arrives with a sense of ease. That is the same way I like to approach the act of taking a picture. Slowing down and capturing the feeling, the moment, the environment. The best portrait comes at a point of trust. Trust that applies to animals as much as it does to humans. The trust that I am there to capture you and them as you are, in whatever emotion or feeling the moment holds.

Based in Lyttelton but available anywhere in the Canterbury region and the South Island. My main focus is human and pet portraits. I have a keen eye for lifestyle and environmental portraits, where we meet up, get comfortable, and shoot in a way that feels organic to how you live and represent yourself.
